MORRISSEY "you are the quarry"
concert on earls court, london, 18th december 2004
beginning with two warm up bands, where i have no idea who they were, as they did not sound very good nor they introduced themselves. on this really miserably and rainy saturday it was really nice, when finally at about 21.00 MORRISSEY came on stage. he and his band kicked off and the sound and his voice were just great. i did expect him wearing hearing aid - but instead he was dressed as a vicar. it did not take very long and all of the audience kept dancing and singing along - which is quite a lot, when you think that the concert was sold out and earls court can take up to 22.000 people. not only that the second song was one of my favourite songs of his new album "the first of the gang to die" it was in any case a fantastic experience to dance along and listen live to an outstanding performance of MORRISSEY. sadly that he did not play that many old songs of himself such as the classic "every day is like sunday". nevertheless i found one introduction really amusing when he said:"…there have been once three miserable people, and i always get associated with them, but they did produce some good songs…." and there it came, "bigmouth strikes again". quite amusing was, when MORRISSEY asked the audience if they also do not like christmas, and if they also shop lift, as he does apparently. this got followed by a second smiths song "shoplifters of the world unite". what can i say - i waited for about 18 years to see that - and i have to say it was worth waiting. it was great to be a part of all of his followers and to experience a fantastic live performance.

MORRISSEY and his band know how to handle a festival crowd. MORRISSEY was in his true form of character with his one of lines. with tickets sold out within minutes, a record turn out as always. MORRISSEY sound as good live as he does recorded. MORRISSEY was lively and wild and well worth seeing. he played an amazing set that included some of his classic songs that have made him what he is today and so well known. no stage appearance by MORRISSEY would be complete without his change of shirts at least five times. however when he came back on stage for an encore the crowd were wild with excitement, people clapped and cheered with over enthusiasm of the crowd.
MORRISSEY is an amazing band that have the ability to please a crowd. i for one would love to see MORRISSEY again and will look out for any future uk tours that may happen again.
